Ilaria Facci was born in Rome in 1982.
At the age of two, a photograph revealed an anomalous reflex in her left eye. The diagnosis of Retinoblastoma and the subsequent enucleation became, in time, the root of her artistic and social enquiry.
Her signature is the self-portrait: a meditative act that refuses the idea of photography as a 'frozen instant', seeking instead images born from time. Through body, nudity and the subconscious, her work transforms personal pain into a universal visual experience — a continuous dialogue between Renaissance painting and contemporary art.
